The Cultural Project

Il Vittoriale degli Italiani

Il Vittoriale degli Italiani is a complex of buildings, streets, squares, an open-air theatre, gardens and water streams built in 1921 in Gardone Riviera, on the shores of Lake Garda, by architect Gian Carlo Maroni and wanted by Gabriele d'Annunzio in memory of his “inimitable life” and the achievement of the Italian people during the First World War.

Today, the Vittoriale is a Foundation open to the public: one of the most visited museums in Italy, with over 250 thousand people a year. Acknowledged as “the most beautiful Park in Italy” in 2012, it proves to be, more than ever, a most lively place, visited not only by students and tourists, but also by scholars and intellectuals who work daily in its archives, and by internationally known artists who stepped out on the stage of its amphitheater or who wanted to celebrate the poet from Abruzzo by donating works of art that today adorn the many avenues, squares and views of the lake.

The Cultural Project

She kept her right arm laid on her dress, holding the fan and gloves in her hand. (Gabriele d’Annunzio, The Child of Pleasure)

The idea to celebrate the one who has been and still is an undisputed master in elegance, Gabriele d'Annunzio, was born after a pleasant meeting between the president of the “Vittoriale degli Italiani” Foundation, Giordano Bruno Guerri and the glove-maker Simona Colonna, who’s currently at the helm of the Duecci Guanti craftsmanship:

─────────────────────

The glove, then as today, is an essential accessory in the outfit of every woman and every man who have well in mind the concept of style.

A concept that sees Italian fashion as an all-time guiding light for the rest of the world.

When it comes to style and elegance, reference is always made to our country. Inevitably.

And it is equally inevitable and evident that all of this is culture. Culture of customs and traditions, culture of beauty, culture of excellence.

On these values, Simona Colonna has undertaken that stylistic research which, along with President Guerri, led to the creation of the collection called:

“Gabriele d'Annunzio inspires the Glove-Art”

The Collection

The collection consists of five models for women and four models for men inspired by the aesthetic characteristics of D'Annunzio’s wardrobe as well as those of ladies he dated.

Extremely sophisticated and refined colours, as the dictates of that time demanded. Each pair of gloves has a specific name and the choice, made in first person by President Giordano Bruno Guerri, draws inspiration for the women's collection, from the nicknames D'Annunzio gave to his ladies, whereas the men's collection is inspired by the pseudonyms referred to him and created by him.

Each model, as a tradition in the Duecci Guanti manufacture, is totally hand-made using the best existing nappa leather.

The collection is a limited edition of fifty pairs for each model, strictly numbered and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

Upon request it is possible to customize your gloves with your initials.

The Glove Box

The Glove Box is made of a matt grey plasticized finish with thermoprinted gold logos.

Each box contains a pair of gloves and a case with the authenticity certificate and the bookmark with the text created exclusively by President Giordano Bruno Guerri.
